Center for Hope of the Sierras
Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Center for Hope of the Sierras provides a small, intimate setting ideal for healing and recovery. The Center for Hope offers residential and partial hospitalization (PHP) treatment for women and adolescents, ages 16 and up, suffering from anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating and related disorders. The Center for Hope also offers one of the country’s only specialized residential tracks for the complex treatment of co-occurring diabetes and eating disorders.
Residential treatment takes place in a beautiful country style home set in a quiet neighborhood with large covered porches, a relaxing spa tub, lush lawns and an outdoor fire pit. The house has 10 beds and comfortable sitting areas in a spacious floorplan creating a welcoming and supportive environment where our patients can cope with the difficult issues associated with their eating disorder. At the Center for Hope of the Sierras it is our mission to welcome each person who enters our doors with an excitement about their willingness to heal and with respect for the courage it takes to enter treatment. We offer compassion, dignity, and a commitment to each person’s unique healing process.
Our philosophy is that it is the patient’s right to define a sense of self; therefore, treatment emphasizes the need for patients to cope with the complex emotions that cause them to doubt this right. Treatment also emphasizes that the patient needs to take themselves and their physical and psychological needs seriously, helping patients to experience themselves as valid and competent human beings.
The Center for Hope of the Sierras offers a variety of individual, family, and group therapies to promote healing and long term recovery. Treatment is focused on the Intuitive Eating philosophy of nutrition and incorporates the core principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and DBT skills groups. Other therapies include imagery, relapse prevention, equine programs, art therapy, meditation, yoga, massage and more, all provided in ways that support and promote self-care and self-respect.
Group Therapies include Body Image, Mindful Eating, Mind and Body Harmony, Food and Feelings Pre and Post Meal Group, Self Acceptance & Behavioral Activation, Relapse Prevention, and more.
We believe that each patient will continue to grow and heal after they leave our doors. Continued recovery & aftercare often depends on where you live, who you have relationships with, and what meaningful activities you engage in. It is our goal to prepare each individual for a smooth transition back to daily life and the skills necessary for long term recovery.
